What? That is ridiculous. We are talking about BRANDING. Not including Acadiana in the name of the band has nothing to do with our heritage or loss of it. The official name of the university still has Lafayette in it, if you are looking for heritage. Nothing is lost. We had a chance to name the university "Acadiana University", but chose Louisiana. We are LOUISIANA. Get on board.

Nothing to figure out here! Bring back Cayenne, he's just fine. Be proud of who we are and where we're from. Happiness, peace, contentment comes from within.

Ragin' Cajuns are free to roam and live where they wish. As past victims of ethnic cleansing they chose Louisiana.

They were told to pick a side but because of their neutrality they had to leave.

Louisiana became one of their choices. Don't try to landlock them into Acadiana, some chose Shreveport, some chose Lake Charles, Houma, BR, New Orleans and even Alabama.

Cajuns are the #1 minority (mentally) associated with Louisiana.

Ragin' Cajuns is not the same, but the State wide branding makes sense.

The #1 animal associated with the State is the Alligator.

The school has been the 2nd largest in the State of Louisiana since 1939.

BRANDING is ridiculous. It's what you focus on when your product is crap that can't sell itself and your market is simpletons.

Which is why "branding" is the largest industry in the world.

No it isn't. We are being misbranded and will ultimately be less marketable if this misdirection born of insecurity and self-loathing persists.

We are the hub and heartland of Cajun culture here in Lafayette, La. You've sold out man. Why? Because of your fixation with the alligator? I don't want to ever hear a peep out of you "Cajun's are ubiquitous to Louisiana"/ "Cajun is a state of mind" people regarding Geaux Tigers or any other Cajun misappropriation. You have all sold your souls. Not me.

Know your place" demands on UL go all the way back to 1906 when the Governor said "there is to much book learning going on."

I guess you don't mean to say Cajun's are a mental minority. You are acknowledging they are not the #1 minority in Louisiana. Your way of saying you believe people mistakenly believe this too be true and I suppose your are content to exploit this fallacy. There are more black people in Louisiana than there are Cajuns. Just spit it out. Cajuns are most unique to Acadiana the home of our University in beautiful Lafayette. You play loose with the facts as they suit you.

He wasn't speaking about physical location by "place". More reason to be proud of our Cajun heritage and home...and defiant!
