The way it's been explained to me is that Robe focuses 100% on the pitching/defense and hitting coach has 100% flexibility on the lineup.

It's also probably why our offenses have been up and down for 20 years though..

There's lots of teams that have been far better at the plate than the Cajuns since Deggs left. When our players play in summer leagues against players across the spectrum we excel. We seem to have great players, but somehow they don't perform here.

Not arguing against that...saying "lets go get another Matt Deggs" is much easier said than done. It was an extremely unique situation. We basically had 2 top notch head coaches on the same staff that excel at opposites of the baseball spectrum, which gets you 58-10. Without Deggs issues in his personal life, we never have a chance at landing him....for damn sure not as a hitting coach. Getting someone better than Talbot isnt quite the same as "going get another Matt deggs"

This incoming freshman class is going to be something special, mark my words. I have personally watched many of these guys play ball over the last 5 plus years. These guys know how to win, they have tons of swag. This is going to be a special special class.

We have had several classes with potential. We need to give them the tools to make them special.

I'm going to agree with the previous poster and say that this class has a little something extra to it.

This spring Steven hit a home run every 17.4 at bats. In pro ball with wood bats facing better pitching, he is hitting a home run every 12.5 at bats, virtually the same batting average, slightly higher OPS in pro ball.

True, on a rare occasion a pitcher may be restricted to no breaking pitches, one inning, or two to work on FB command, but not very often. They still try to win games.

Are you sure he's facing better pitching. I've often heard good college ball is on par with AA minor league ball. No idea if this is that high.
