Three-time Class 1A all-state guard Andrea Cournoyer of Merryville High committed Thursday night to play college basketball at Louisiana.

Cournoyer, a senior, has led the Panthers to three Top 28 state basketball tournament appearances, including a run to the championship game in 2016. The Panthers reached the semifinals last year.

Andrea Cournoyer came out of HS as the player with the 2nd most points in LA history. She needs to start wearing her glasses again She was 2 for 9! Come on Andrea! Coach, let her play her game!

Here is a older quote... "Just a few days after she became only the second girl to score 5,000 career point in Louisiana (Anacoco’s Katie Anthony had 6,190 from 1998 to 2002), Cournoyer, a University of Louisiana-Lafayette signee, recorded her first career quadruple-double with 32 points, 12 rebounds, 12 steals and 12 assists in a 90-16 win over Hamilton Christian. She followed that up with a triple-double on Friday in a 68-49 win over Elton with 48 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals."

I was hoping for the same thing, but that involves her being the centerpiece like she was in h/s. Will never happen, has nothing to do with glasses. She's at a serious size disadvantage, usually gives up a half a foot or better to opponents. Go watch them play in person if you can, much will be made clear. That's a minor issue; it's only a small part. No pun intended. She is a solid player, person and student.

Think about it, if AC had height and given her numbers, don't you think some major P-5s would have recruited her?

    She's not Kim Mulkey.

I was there last night we were the better team through most of the game but a couple of things happened that destroyed us late in the game.

#1 Andrea Cournoyer, who is my favorite player on the team, played a total of 7 minutes. The team is 1000% better with Andrea on the court. She was clearly not 100% last night, even on the court she was favoring her leg, it appeared. To me, it appears the Cajuns don't have a back up point guard.

SoCon player of the year. A transfer from Louisiana, the junior guard leads the conference in scoring (18.0 PPG), free throw percentage (86.0) and steals (3.0 SPG). SoCon all defensive team.
