He was the best coach... not the best athlete.

....Thought about and studied about this very thing for years.......a differentiai of strenghts is needed in the process and a major difference is the application of the fine versus gross motor skills of the athlete......there was a certain athlete that was voted outstanding football player in the country and I thought him to be a better football player than me at his position (ah maybe much better)......but he didn't play baseball and basketball and in track I proved superior in our events....so In my mind I was no doubt a better fine skilled athlete but couldn't match his gross motor skills other than speed......oh and Icould kick and punt better and catch as well......so one is better overall as an athlete and one a no questioned top in his field......I won't mention the SS characteristics but these gross motor skills can increase pretty much with physical maturation!!!

    Are you nominating yourself? Lol

It's best athlete "of" the 80s, not "in" his 80's.

    :-)

....Sir I am a proud septuagenarian I will have you know.......but I played football with Leanord Klienpeter who was a very deserving 3 sport letterman......possibly was All-Conference in each sport, and if not very close to it....he was drafted by the NFL, not sure about his baseball draft status....and the boy could fly....bout a 9.5 hundred!!!

The toothpick man certainly changed the direction of the football program more than any other coach in UL history! Too bad he took it in the opposite direction than was desired!!!!
