Default Best Cajun Athlete of the 1980's?

Anyone know why Drexal Allen is the best Cajun athlete of the 80's? He's running away in this espn1420 poll.

Any list that doesn't even list an American Record holder and Olympic Medalist is bogus. Mitchell, Gannon and Brooks were great, but the best athlete of the 1980s was either Kim Perot or Hollis Conway.

Conway should get the nod because he set the American Record while still a USL athlete.

Well there was a disclaimer that Hollis wasn't included because he'd be an obvious runaway winner.

We're fishing in the same pond though. I voted for Kim Perrot

    Drexel's cousin keeps voting....

Take out Hollis Conway. If Brian Mitchell don't win by a land slide it is a joke. If they would have included Hollis then no discussion needed.

Does Andrew Toney's Spring of 1980 season qualify him?

Really? Mitchell was great in a high profile sport; Perot led the nation in scoring. Brian no doubt will get more votes, but Perot winning would not be a joke.

Is there going to be a 90's? I have my vote ready.

Regardless of the current wording excluding Hollis Conway, I do know that the poll was done "looking at athletes specifically from football, basketball, baseball and softball. "

Otherwise another slam dunk track participant would have been Neil Guidry.

Agreed. Kim was an amazing player. I'm not a big women's hoops fan, but I would definitely go out of my way to see her play when she was a Cajun.

Not taking anything away from Brian, but Kim led the country in scoring, and was unstoppable. And then validated it by being a good professional player as well.
