Get off your high horse Bicky...You have no idea my "moral" background. My catholic parents got married because it was "the right thing to do" and not because they loved each other. They no longer are able to talk to each other nor be in the same room. No marriage works if the two parties involved do not love and respect each other. Not because some priest told them they have to. Most kids are better off raised with separate parents then two people who hate and resent each other, it's common ____ing sense.

Now if you want to talk sex education or other ways to prevent so many unwed pregnancies, that is a totally different discussion.

Well I know someone personally of strong Catholic faith in that same situation and coach Faulkenberry took football away. He then worked several jobs while in school, and his kid lived in vet village the first 4 years of life. He was a man of God who loved his wife and his family until the day he died. Even if you take the marriage part out there should still be some immediate financial obligations when you bring a child into the world. Unfortunately today's society makes it much to easy to avoid the responsibilities and duties of a man. College coaches are up on the top of the list of the ones who are enabling them. You tell me which route is better in making a "man" todays or Coah Russ?

I must be missing something. Is taking ownership of one's past actions an impossible feat (i.e. bootstrapping)? It seems that Bicky was referencing the obligation to own up to past actions and do what you must, when you bring a child into the world.

Some may have the ability to play sports and have a kid - a seemingly impossible task that many young men succeed at. However, for every success, there appears to always be a failure too. Guess I just figured all males should be men and raise a kid they brought into this world.

No one ever looks back and says, "you know what, being a kid you make mistakes, and these kids are from insanely different background and socioeconomic problems as I was. Maybe I shouldn't call them lazy and irresponsible, because that's EXACTLY WHAT I WAS AT THEIR AGE."

It's akin to an old man remembering he used to walk 5 miles to school in the snow with no shoes, when the mother____er lived two blocks from the school and had new shoes on his feet regularly. Everyone pulled themselves from the gutter to where they are today. I know I didn't. My parents worked their asses off to put me through catholic school, so that when I got to college I didn't have to work as a "metter" maid (shout out to the Bickster) the rest of my life. A lot of kids don't get that leg up. So you can't stare back down at them and apply your own, distorted life story to their's. It's a fool's errand. Apples to oranges. I'm not by any means advocating that lifestyle, but looking at them under the same lens that you view yourself isn't applicable.

He was addressing morality, not opportunity. Why would or should one's socioeconomic status effect their morality?

Why should we expect less, from a moral perspective, from some than we do from others?
