Wow. I hope you're right - in the most positive sense. Getting into FG range and/or scoring TDs avoids punting. But turnovers also reduce the need for punting. I hope you mean that our offense is going to be highly effective at moving into the red zone. I'm not sure where you derive the optimism that our offense (and defense) will be phenomenally effective, in every game, after game 1.

No disrespect to SLU, however if we punt several times against the Lions, we will be punting a lot throughout the season. I think people are missing a key point here. We are bringing in a guy who can help us win games. The guy had great stats at Cincinnatti. Hopefully he can duplicate those here. Let's focus on the guys on the team now.

Sticking with special teams, Sterling Miller was a deep snapper that got suspended right after the Trump video last year and doesn't appear on this years roster. He was not visible in the video so when you put 1 and 1 together, you come up with he may have been on the other side of the cell phone camera. Is he gonna be reinstated or will he be the only participant not allowed back on the team?

Gone and your assumptions are correct.

What is his grad study field? Think that might have something to do with it?

That's a shame shouldn't he have the same punishment as the rest. It appears to me there may be some double standards in discipline on this team according to your talent level and contributions.

What he did was way worse if in fact he posted the video. The other guys were singing a song. No big deal in my mind. That dude broke locker room code and started this whole sh storm.
In locker rooms all Over the country, people are listening to and singing songs that demean women and glorify drug abuse, etc. Nobody is dumb enough to video it and post it to the web so it isn't an issue.

If "dumb" gets you more punishment, then we need to exact some serious punishment to our entire football program (including the head coach). "Team, we have a strict code of conduct in this program. We do not video our acts of vulgarity and dumbassishness. If you are caught with video or audio recordings of our staff or members of the team doing things that bring dishonor to our university, you, the recorder, will be crucified. That's our 'red line' on codes of conduct. Remember, if no one records it, does the tree really fall in the woods?".

The song or it's substance may have insulted a few major Trump supporters, but it wasn't relevant to most. It was simply a example of a divided locker room and symptomatic of what was taking place in the program. If the locker room isn't divided and other incidents hadn't taken place, perhaps there would never had been a video? Knowing this kid and his family as UL supporters, the fish rots at the head. Had the man running this program addressed some of those incidents and handled them with impartiality, I don't believe any video would have been placed on YouTube.

I'm not a big fan of secret locker room videos, but when the leader of the program doesn't address discipline concerns until incidents become public, the blame begins with him.

He's got a new locker room with different leaders, let's see what happens this season. Hopefully they will find a way to stick together, even through the rough patches.
