    It may take weeks or even months to regain strength in the muscles of the forearm and fingers. Your doctor may recommend a program of stretching and strengthening after the discomfort from surgery has gone away and the wound has healed. In severe cases, complete recovery may take up to a year because nerves grow slowly and it takes them that long to make new connections.My grand-son, a pitcher for LSU Alexandria had the surgery in his Jr. year and never returned.......I don't know how severe Leger's elbow is, and I hope it's not the worse case and recovery is fast.

    From CajunT in another thread;

    It's not Tommy John surgery. According to a member of the staff, it's a small ligament repair. The surgery has already been done and he is rehabbing. He will continue to rehab during the fall and should be ready to pitch next spring.

    Let me just add that I have no idea what procedure was performed or the timetable for return. This was their comments and not my opinion.

    Considering he's not a "power" guy and has managed to be our very successful Friday guy for three years using change of speeds and location I'll worry when I don't see him start the year. At this point I don't bet anything against Gunner.

    I'd add not to worry being Coach Robe probably had a plan B in the back of his mind all of this past season knowing him going pro was always a realistic option.

    Did not say Tommy John surgery. My comment was an elbow surgery. My grandson went through this and never returned to playing baseball. His was serious. Little league coaching and high school took care of his career. I am hoping that Leger is not serious. By the comments it may have not been. Let's hope for the best. We need him on the mound in 2018,

    You just never know how your body will react to an surgery. If I remember correctly, Schmidt had a relatively small surgery between season last year. We know how long it took for him to see action.

    The best self proclaimed pitching coach in america pitched a kid who was hurt the 2 weeks of the season just to try and stroke his own ego....shame on him...no wonder he hasn't smelled OMAHA in 17 years...and not one of the top programs in the country is even offering him a chance to coach a real contending team...stick to SUN WORST and he'll be a hero in lafayette, america...
