There may be some variations of paint types being used for different surfaces. And some red pigments fade pretty bad when exposed to constant sunlight. Polyester/spandex thongs hold their color a lot better than cotton... for instance. And they're moisture wicking. And it's always fun to be wicked.
Red is the worst. The pigments are not stable in UV light. They all wind up looking like Pepto Bismal. Some coating manufacturers recommend a UV inhibiting clear coat as a final coat. It helps but not a 100 percent solution. I did get some red sign paint a cople of years ago and it appears to be doing very well. I need to check out it's formulation. It was expensive as hell though. $15.00 for a half pint.
I did pass by the stadium tonight. the lights were on so that tells me they were working. They do have the bulk bags of crumb rubber and sand that they use as infill in the turf. The individual blades of "grass" are at least 1" long. They cover the turf with sand first, comb it in and then crumb rubber last and comb it in. The sand acts as a weight to keep the turf in place and the crumb rubber is a cushion.
I think I would have left the end zone green and add LOUISIANA in red. The fading might not be as noticeable.
If we play all the games at night the red turf will never fade.
.......After we fed the team some went down to see the almost finished deal.......looks really great.....the Louisiana in white and outlined in a black color that really stands out.... Also some red black and white border trim.......very bright with the stacked RAGIN' CAJUNS at midfield!!!
