Thread: Cajuns revel in new golf facility

  1. UL Golf Cajuns revel in new golf facility

The rain went away just in time Thursday for Louisiana-Lafayette to cut the ribbon and formally dedicate its new 4,000-square-foot golf facility at Oakbourne Country Club.

But even if the rain hadn’t abated, junior Triston Elston would still have been able to hit the ceremonial first shot out of the all-weather and technology-filled hitting bays that highlight the $600,000 facility. Fittingly, Elston hit a throwback 8-iron that was in coach Theo Sliman’s bag when he played for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

UL's golf team finally has a home, and it's a nice one.

Last Thursday's ribbon-cutting officially ended a project that was several years in the dream stage, two years in the planning stage and nine months in actual construction on the Ragin' Cajuns' 4,000-square-foot facility that is housed at Oakbourne Country Club.

This will no doubt help current and future team members. Recruiting just got some big help too.

The Independent is no more. They shut down a couple weeks ago.

Put another dime in the jukebox. 😊

I'm curious how our new practice facility stacks up against the competition. Anyone have a feel for other golf practice situations in our peer group?

We could have an advantage, but I'm not sure. Maybe Dan can chime in.

I hope it boosts recruiting as much as the APC has for football thus far.

The one program we know it beats is us in prior years. Whatever we were selling,we're selling a better version today.

Dan Mcdonald when he writes for the Advocate does not follow the Sunbelt guidelines and calls us Louisiana-Lafayette.

How many times do we have to go over this? It's The Advocate not the writer.

Why don't articles like this ever have pictures or video so we can see what the finished facility looks like? The Advocate article had a picture of a guy swinging a club. That shows us nothing. We sure can't find it on the athletic website which desperately needs an updated Facilities page.
