  1. Ragin' Cajuns Cajuns Drop Home Opener 2-0 To McNeese

Under cloudy skies and Hurricane Harvey's presence the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer team lost their home opener to the McNeese Cowgirls 2-0 in a game originally scheduled to be held in Lake Charles, but due to the weather was moved to Lafayette and played here at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex.

So it's pretty much confirmed. Soccer will not be good. Again. We're tied for last in the Southland w/ an 0-2 conference record.

Wasn't allowed to question this program in the early summer. Pretty clear we're not going to be very competitive again. But we're probably not spending more than absolutely necessary on the program. Doesn't McNeese recruit in the same talent poor state as Louisiana? Just wondering?

I've been to both home matches this year. What stands out to me is a large number of the players are from California/west coast/foreign countries. I think only three are from this area. Are you telling me that you have to go across the country to find players to get these results?

I think there is plenty of talent in this state. Problem is they don't recruit very much in this state. Don't understand that. Plenty of girls from the soccer clubs in this town have gone on to other schools and had great careers. Time for a change.

Once again, look where in state talent goes. Beyond a very few NCAA D-1 players, Louisiana isn't known for soccer.

A few years back UL had the Louisiana h/s D2 POY and and player that was in the hunt for D1 POY from the same recruiting class. Made conference tournament, never was a threat to win. As far as local talent, a few have gone to Alice Shoe and made an impact, and a few years back one young lady from Sacred Heart lit it up for McNeese. We have a recruiting/networking issue, and local isn't the answer.

Here's McNeese's roster. No state players.

When you're deficient in winning recruiting is difficult. To change that you need a dynamic young coaching staff, money to recruit with, and facilities. Our upgrades to the locker areas are okay, but the bleachers really offsets that. We'd be far better in track and soccer with a fewer but upgraded stands.

    Clearly we're keeping inept coaching.

In any case soccer needs a sugar daddy as the university cannot properly fund this sport. Same for volleyball.

If it does not take money from other sports I will be happy to embrace the suck

He's the second coach. Dave Poggi preceded Scot.

Media guide available on team site if anyone wishes to see history.
