Here is one example of a mascot outfit. A real Cajun, not a rubber outfit. Something like the Fighting Irish, a Leprechaun, someone dressed as one, not some rubber crap. No how much would that cost? Some of us older gents have that in our closet now...

Beausoleil Broussard? That's what it should be.

I think just Beausolei for the whatever mascot we use would be a perfect name.

I don't want the pepper, I don't want the hot wheels logo, and I don't think I want a mascot. The saints have gumbo that has nothing to do with Saints and I don't think it would be bad to have something similar but I don't want a character. If you had a catahoula hound or other pet I wouldn't mind as much but I don't want that as an official mascot. JMO
Lets just go with the FDL always and not have some hokey mascot. I dont think we need a pepper or a gator running around.

I agree. But what do you think of my post #13?....nothing hokey about that. And if we are to continue to be called the "Cajuns", what's more appropriate than the picture presented in the link?

I don't disagree totally. If we were to have a live mascot, I think something like your idea would be best.
My argument would be that "Cajun" is more of a state of mind and a way of life that cannot be represented in a concrete way. I think "Cajun" is more about the people and not the person. I fear that might get lost by trying to represent that with a single mascot.
Live mascots, whether actually live or a representation, lend themselves to caricature.

Been working on my genealogy for the last 15 years. On the Broussard side I go back to 1540 France.

So Frenchie and Beyonce are cousins...who would have thunk

"Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, to Celestine "Tina" Knowles (née Beyincé), a hairdresser and salon owner, and Mathew Knowles, a Xerox sales manager.[25] Beyoncé's name is a tribute to her mother's maiden name.[26] Beyoncé's younger sister Solange is also a singer and a former member of Destiny's Child. Solange and Beyoncé are the first sisters to have both had No. 1 albums.[27] Mathew is African American, while Tina is of Louisiana Creole descent (African, Native American, and French).[26][28][29][30] Through her mother, Beyoncé is a descendant of Acadian leader Joseph Broussard.[28]"
