Cayenne was never alive.
It was DOA despite the fine efforts of the various people inside.
Rumor has it Cayenne was diced up and fed to the gators in Cypress Lake.
New mascot is something exciting to talk about and go with in the future. I'd love to see one for opening day
A Cajun/Creole looking dude with shotgun and Delcambre reboks!!!
As a mascot, the Bullgator makes the most sense as it ties in with the history and tradition of the university. And, it makes for a wonderful on-field, costumed mascot. To my knowledge, only Florida and Louisiana would have a gator mascot, putting us in pretty good company.
I'm wondering if we could have an animal representative that is not a "mascot". I can't think of anything that directly represents "Ragin' Cajuns". Ragin' Cajun's is unique and can't be duplicated by anyone else. i love that we're back to using the Fleur de Lis again and that needs to be on everything in my mind. I don't want the pepper, I don't want the hot wheels logo, and I don't think I want a mascot. The saints have gumbo that has nothing to do with Saints and I don't think it would be bad to have something similar but I don't want a character. If you had a catahoula hound or other pet I wouldn't mind as much but I don't want that as an official mascot. JMO

Here is one example of a mascot outfit. A real Cajun, not a rubber outfit. Something like the Fighting Irish, a Leprechaun, someone dressed as one, not some rubber crap. No how much would that cost? Some of us older gents have that in our closet now...
