Women's golf would be an easy and relatively inexpensive add

    NO.

We are already ____ poor. No need for another sport that no one will support.

Adding any sport isn't inexpensive. Scholarships.....

Men's soccer can award 9.9 scholarships. Women's golf can award 6. The NCAA doesn't require an exact match in scholarships so you could probably get away with that but you are still talking 16 scholarships. If you use the national average of around 15K per scholarship you are looking at 240K before you start talking about coaches, travel, uniforms etc. Bottom line is adding men's soccer is probably going to cost you over a 1/2 mil without adding a significant revenue stream.

We could seriously field a very respectable men's soccer team.

    On paper.

Unless the courses are overflowing with applicants, the cost to the school is not much more than regulating body heat and books.
