UL picks up multiple verbal commitments in recent days

With the recent commitments it looks like we are going from competing with the big boys back to getting kids with SWAC or no offers at all. I always initially like to judge a recruit by what other offers they had and who you had to beat out for them. I am glad to see our coaches can still beat the SWAC for kids. It looks like we could lose one to USM and CUSA.

Well, given Hud's failure rate with potential "high risk/ high rewards" athletes, be it academic or behavioral , getting diamonds in the rough may not be a bad thing.

Looking for too many diamonds in the rough means we've got near sighted jewelers.

I agree. Bill Parcells had a specific criteria he would use to scout players. He would never wavered on it.

If you take one exception to the rule you end up with the team full of exceptions.

Other schools interest in the prospect is the only measuring stick of the athletic ability of this prospect. From the looks of the last two years we are now recruiting Southland and SWAC level talent along with JUCO prospects to backfill.

Yeah. Not alot to get excited about here. I thought the APC would be a game changer.

Seems we are picking up commitments from guys with offers from FCS level players and losing others as they realize they can actually get a D-1 offer from ANY other school. Exciting times for the recruits - not so much for Cajuns fans.

That APC investment is really paying big dividends.

You can recruit easier and better by tapping the imagination than you can to reality.

Just prior to, and during construction is the prime time a facility pays dividends.

If you are winning and play the style of ball that attracts a certain athlete the facility cn be the deal closer.

The decommits are more troubling to me.. I bet other schools are using the 13 that are in trouble and old dirty laundry to hammer us and make us seem like we are one big hot mess. Still early though

Kids have not even played their senior year yet at this stage. Some of these kids may have interest from other programs as this moves along. It is a little early to get concerned or optimistic at this stage. Surprising success on the field in 2017 can yield dividends in 2018 recruiting.

Dividends only if you were in the conversation with the prospects.
