Welcome to Louisiana Jomyra.
Broadhead has loaded class coming in .. really looking forward to what they can do
Good student as well.
"Mathis is a full academic qualifier, who carried a 4.0 grade-point-average with a 23 on the ACT, Washington said. Mathis additionally already has earned an associate degree from Nunez Community College in Industrial Technology through an affiliated Landry-Walker program, Washington said."
Algiers based, can't go wrong with dat
I trust Coach Broadhead, but I could see how one could question the statement that "Mathis was recruited by Cajuns assistant coach Deacon Jones and also received recruiting interest from Northwestern State and several out-of-state community colleges, Washington said".
I've found articles on GB's recruits but nothing regarding heights. Our shortcoming (no pun intended) was getting beat down low on a regular basis by the better teams. That has to get fixed or we've peaked.
Before anyone rushes to GB's defense, I know where the program was. We're stuck at same level 3 years in a row. Just like the men's team.
I seem to remember we had center who got hurt early last year and was expected to play but it may be old age. Also below is our signees from last year.
LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball coach Garry Brodhead announced that four players have signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Ragin' Cajuns beginning in the 2017-18 season.
Tyreonna Doucet, a 6-foot-2 forward from Ville Platte, La. has signed her NLI to play for the Cajuns next season. Doucet attended Ville Platte High School where as a junior she averaged 14 points per game, 11 rebounds and five blocks. She played AAU basketball with the Louisiana Lady Legends.
"We have been recruiting Ty Doucet since the eighth grade," head coach Garry Brodhead said. "We saw the potential in her back then and she is just a rebounding machine. She can guard and she can score. That was one of the things that impressed me about her."
Brianna and Kianna Suber of Bryan, Texas have also signed their letters of intent to play for Louisiana next season. Brianna and Kianna are 5-foot-9 guards and twin sisters who attended Rudder High School where Brianna averaged 15 points per game, six rebounds and three assists while Kianna averaged 17 points per game, six rebounds and three assists. Both played AAU basketball with the Texas Adidas Elite Phenoms.
"I think we signed some really quality players as well as quality student-athletes," Brodhead said. "We were looking to fill in for some scoring and you have Brianna and Kianna Suber that can just score at will."
Skyler Goodwin, a 5-foot-8 guard from Baker, La. has signed her NLI to play for the Cajuns next season. Goodwin attended Parkview Baptist High School where she averaged 25 points per game, 10 rebounds and five assists. She played AAU basketball with Louisiana's Finest.
"We signed Skyler Goodwin out of the Baton Rouge area," Brodhead said. "She is another guard, but she is more of an outside threat. She is a three-point shooter, a penetrator and can really defend. I think those three guards fit our system really well."
Brodhead hopes that all four players can come in and contribute immediately for the Ragin' Cajuns next season.
"All four of those kids fit exactly into what we were looking to do to improve our system," Brodhead said. "It's going to be important that they come in and work hard and hopefully they will get some playing time right away."
Thanks CA. Obviously GB going the speed route.
Did anyone ever find out why the twins were kicked off their high school team?
