Thread: SB: LSU/McNeese

It does look like 8-9 pm should be a window. Outfield would be a swamp, though.

A team can play no more than three games in a day. Theoretically, they could finish the regional today.

My hope is that the weather does not extend into late tomorrow where only one more game (after LSU vs. McNeese) can be played. Then it would be higher seed wins if the teams finish with one loss each.

The worst case scenario for Cajun fans is only getting to play LS-U once (given they beat McNeese state.) Just looking at the forecast, it looks like they'd only be able to play late in the evening tomorrow and if first pitch is like at 8-9 pm, then that's a defacto winner take all game.

Either way, with the weather looking the way it does, one fan base is going to have a legit complaint. McNeese/LSU will say "we never got another shot to play you." If LSU advances and wins the only game against the Cajuns, getting them into the supers because of a higher seed, UL would say "but we didn't have the other game. There's no way you'd best us twice."

Let's just hope McNeese or the weather wins and we can forget the whole thing.

Get on the bus and move the damn thing to Lafayette. The NCAA has the authority to do so.

Wasn't that fun, sliding all over the outfield to shag a ball.....

Just checked weather, looks nasty tonight and tomorrow, so I got interested (some of this may have already been said, but I didn't read the whole thread). There are a few different scenarios that can play out in the event that this rain/lightning continues tonight and tomorrow.

The regional can be extended to Monday, but it must be completed without starting a game past 11pm. However, the Rules say that “if the regional final begins before 11 p.m. and an “if necessary” game becomes necessary to determine the regional champion, that game will immediately follow.” The rule seems to contradict itself in that a Game 7 could start after Game 6, assuming that Game 6 started before 11pm. Maybe Brian can clarify (see page 12 at http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/fi...l_20170209.pdf).

Currently, we have 4 games completed, so the highest undefeated team would move on if no more games could be played. The same rule applies if the LSU-Mcneese game is played (Game 5), the highest undefeated team (UL) would move on.

If LSU beats McNeese and then beats us in Game 6, LSU will advance if Game 7 cannot be played because head-to-head would be equal, so highest remaining seed moves on. If McNeese beats LSU in Game 5 and then beats us in Game 6, UL would advance because head-to-head would be equal, and we would be the higher seed (if Game 7 starts and doesn’t finish, then it will be like Game 7 never happened these rules would apply).

Im not one for weather watching and hoping to get by without playing again, but I'd rather there not be an opportunity for LSU to beat us once and advance.

I have seen something saying that when there are 4 completed games, the highest seed advances, meaning LSU would advance if they could not complete Game 5 (LSU v. Mcneese). But the rule in the Pre-Championship Manual clearly states otherwise. (some of you may have seen that on Tiger Droppings; its false)

At present, highest seed would not advance. At present, the team with no losses would advance (Louisiana).
