Does the conference tournaments get calculated into the RPI?

Number 19 sure has been sticky for the Cajuns.

    Yes.

I think we can remove any doubt that we are traveling to Baton Rouge for regionals.

That would be unfortunate. Being sent to the 6th place SEC team with a 38-17 record? I have no doubt we'd win there, but please let us host or send us to Waco or College Station.

On the SEC note, every team in that conference will more than likely make the tourney. Georgia, with a stellar 6-18 conference record and who did not qualify for the conference tournament, are a top 25 RPI team. Conference affiliation certainly has it's perks.

No doubt Georgia has lost to some pretty good teams. That's the big problem with the RPI as currently calculated.

I think there is definitely a path where LSU is not one of the sixteen national seeds and therefore does not host.

I agree, but I think all they have to do is beat Missouri, which they have already done twice, and they should be hosting. I think the committee creates too much trouble/work for themselves by having to ship LSU, Louisiana and McNeese out of what would be their natural geographic area. I'm not convinced the Cajuns would go to either Waco or College Station if LSU doesn't host.

Any chance the Cajuns could get Top16 RPI and host while LSU drops out of the Top 16 and have them sent here? That would be ideal situation...

I still think LSU could wind up not hosting.

The committee is not thinking this when determining the national seeds. This step in the process is solely based on their assessment of merit (even if you do not agree with their definition of merit).

I agree re:Missouri. It is unfortunate that LSU is not required to face someone like Ole Miss ... or even South Carolina in the opener.

That said, if the Cajuns get South Alabama/Texas State/Texas State ... and go undefeated ... the Cajuns could catch LSU in the RPI.

Looks like you've seen the projections.

Yikes. Let's hope that's not the case. Baylor with s current 10 RPI only the 16 seed? In that case, no thanks to Waco.

Whether I am or not, your opinion still has no value.

It seems to me that you are basing your analysis on what may happen strictly on how the rpi rankings turn out. I'm trying to calculate by what the committee has already shown us. The 2 top 10 reveals they have released show they are not using the rpi like the be all and end all of their decisions. Minnesota has not been in the top 10 of the rpi, but the committee has them at #8 in the first release and #7 in this past one. Baylor has been in the top 10 of the rpi for several weeks but they were not even mentioned as under consideration for the top 10 in this last release (Oklahoma and Utah were). It's my feeling that the committee will still lean more in favor of the power teams, especially the SEC and PAC 12 teams, than James Madison, Brigham Young or us.
