  1. UL Football Mark Hudspeth: On Suspension Of 13 Student-Athletes

Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns head football coach Mark Hudspeth released a statement on Wednesday regarding the indefinite suspension of 13 student-athletes.

    Apr. 26, 2017 Football

"On behalf of our football program, I would like to apologize to Cajun Nation and the University. We do not condone the behavior that was represented and we expect higher standards of our student-athletes.

We work diligently every day to guide, educate and develop these young men, so it is disappointing when we do not meet those standards.

We will be respectful of the legal process as it runs its course."

I've learn long time ago until you know all the facts its best to keep my opinion to myself. In Iraq I witness incident report and then two hours later watched the incident on TV reported totally wrong. Same as a local police officer handled incidents and could only wonder where these people were getting their information to report. We can't take away the black eye to the University but I feel some people and media outlets are on a rush to judgment course.

It is a shame. The only person that should be apologizing is the DA.

Was it the DA that decided to make these arrest?

Do we know who actually brought charges? It's my understanding that law enforcement makes the arrest and files charges based on a complaint. Then they present their evidence to the DA who then in turn decides to pursue prosecution.

Do we know what the DA involvement has been up to this point?

The DA is responsible for charging the players as a group. Had he charged them individually, you'd have no case, no felonies.

The DA tried to make a point. It blew up, he feels proud of himself, he got his 15 minutes of fame and now we have moved on.

I'm glad HUD released a very short statement and has moved on.

    Geaux Cajuns!

    PARTSCH: Another embarrassment for Cajuns

"Mark Hudspeth is getting quite good at apologizing for his team's behavior away from the football field, even more so than he is at coaching the group of young men on the artificial turf of Cajun Field.
    ........
The past few years has seen the enthusiasm and support for the program that was quickly built up with four very successful and unprecedented years begin to erode for a multitude of reasons. There was the disappointing 4-8 season of 2015 which many a bandwagon Cajuns fan (i.e. a die-hard LSU fan in disguise) jumped ship on the program."

Where this guy went to college?

2020 is a long way off. We need Hud to take control of his team.

The writer acknowledged that none of the issues were caused by anything Hud did or failed to do. The only thing he could do better is be more careful in coach selection, and player selection. We're not going anywhere with choir boys, but we need young men who are making smarter decisions.
