Congrats Cajuns!
On a roll!
Timely hitting!
You have to admit we've been winning all types of games lately. Blowouts and nail biters alike. Pitchers duels and ugly games alike. And in our last 10, we are 8-1-1. You know what happened with the tie and LSU game lacked timely hits. In reality, we had the Coastal series swept before uncharacteristic melt downs from our bullpen aces.
I think this is why we are on a "roll". I feel like the team's mentality has turned the corner to "knowing" we should win ever game and not just pressing and hoping.
That being said, I'm with you that there's still lots of room for improvement. But, I like the mental makeup right now.
Not arguing; discussing. Trying to be objective in my observations of our team. IMO, LSU is way overrated and we were a bad matchup for them. Our strength is their weakness. We have to win games like that. Also CCU is very average. If we're being honest with ourselves, there are 8-10 games this season where we've literally given the game away or shot ourselves in the foot. I know, I know... that's baseball.
I think there is a lot of merit o your second paragraph and I agree with changing the mentality being key. At this point in our programs history, I think it's fair to project ahead to either meaningful tourney play or post season play and positioning. Most of my comments are in that context. I agree that this team in particular needed to be "weathered", but I don't think we've played the schedule to harden them like in the past. We'll see. I still think we have a team that is learning how to compete at a high level and that scare me in late April.
It's fair to say this team is starting to grind.
Our biggest opponent is still us. But we are learning how to overcome our deficiencies
