He regards them as talent thieves, cheating student-athletes out of degrees, paying them 3rd world wages, leaving them broke, looking for work with a high school diploma. MLB needs hundreds of organizational players to play while the few Blake Trahans and Jon Lucroys get ready for big league baseball.
MLB has a college tuition plan for high school kids that is rarely ever used. College isn't for everybody, but benefits more than it does not.

I was there for that as well. He was basically saying that the scouts tend to give players this faux image of the big leagues and avoid mentioning some of the hardships of playing in the minor leagues such as the travel (on a bus) and hotel accommodations to which he has a valid point. These scouts will basically pander until they don't need you anymore and throw you right out.
