I liked Roydell as a player and was hoping he would improve during the year. I wish him well as I expect he is transferring mainly for PT ... he was getting less as the season unfolded and next year he knew it would be an issue.

I don't remember him being at the basketball banquet; this may explain it.

    Good luck Roydell.

With Brown transferring, we are now looking to bring in a post player.

If it is a post player it would make sense for him to be a transfer who may sit. We didn't lose a post player and we're gaining Gant. That being said I wouldn't be shocked if something comes up and Stalcup doesn't return.

Was curious since the fall semester started as to where Roydell ended up. I tried to research but didn't find anything. Anyone know if he joined another program?

Thanks, guess that's an indicator that he truly wanted to play this year and not redshirt.

Hate to see him go. I think he could have developed into a really valuable player for us. Kid is athletic as heck. Good luck Roydell

From what I recall, that is the correct view. Plus, this JC is not that far from New Orleans which is his home. Had he transferred to another D1 school he would have to sit out. Now, he can go to any school who wants him after a year in the JUCO ranks. He probably feels he will showcase his skills there and get better offers. He likely will get lots of highlight dunks but there is much more to the game of course. If I were a college athlete, I would want to redshirt as that would give me five years to get my degree. Of course these guys all think they can play pro ball and they don't understand how few really do.

Mike, he's a high energy athlete, but still had scoring deficits outside the occasional rebound and put back. Was good on defense.i think had he'd given us a chance to coach him up he could've been a great redshirt sophomore.
