You said we needed someone else besides plaisance to leave bc a transfer paid his own way...so we needed another person to leave or redshirt...then you said you wouldn't be surprised if Browns scholarship went to another transfer...well then we still need someone to redshirt or pay their own way
Despite having a poor tournament, I think it is working out well for Frank Bartley. He was our leading scorer and Newcomer of the year in Louisiana this year. Of course he did not leave BYU due to not being happy there as he was a starter there and he loved that part of Utah as well as his coaches and teammates. He simply wanted to play closer to home and have a larger offensive role.
No we don't need anyone else to leave to bring someone in. The transfer who paid his own way did so only in the fall semester. He did not have to once Plaisance left and will not have to do so going forward. See my post outlining the 12 guys planned for scholarship. Brown would have made the allowed 13. His departure allows another player to be brought in to get us back to 13. Let me clarify that I don't know a transfer will be how this scholarship is used. It simply would not surprise me based upon having four seniors and recent moves. I don't have any idea who they are recruiting for the spring or the early period in November. I have been told that November is the current focus due to the four seniors. Of course that plan may be changing now that Brown is moving on.
Sorry to see him go. Always noticed when he entered the game! Only makes sense if he goes juco, otherwise he'll sit a year which is what we asked him to do.
My guess is he was unhappy here for whatever reason.
Parents have a big influence on kids transferring.
