Yup. i like Ian. Sports and other formats. Brad Topham not shabby either.
Being a pro wrestling fan since I was a kid I enjoyed today's show. Ian does a good job.
I referenced a newly-released Prince recording during third hour today. For those of you who are interested, here's that song--his 1984 recording of "Nothing Compares 2 U."
Another good Robe hour.
I didn't think he was making excuses for the Tech debacle, because I thought the team looked gassed myself. Anyone who travels often, or for work, knows what travel can do to your body and your mind. It was a legitimate reason. I'm glad he went into detail during the show.
Having said all of that, I fully expect to go up to Ruston and publicly urinate on them.
I totally agree, however, I am curious to see the response you get to this. During basketball season, I made a similar comment about traveling and it was labeled and excuse and the team is "soft" if they let something like travel interfere with their performance. I'm curious to see if you get a similar response or something totally different since its baseball with a more revered coach.
Well for one, that discussion involved a veteran basketball team that was really good and mentally tough riding the bus. The other involves an average baseball team that has proven to be pretty soft sitting around an airport and flying. That tough basketball team went sweep that road trip. The soft baseball team came home and got crushed.
The fact is MAT posted that travel could have very well played a part in the performance of the baseball team. I noted that similar comments were made, by me, previously about the basketball team on a long road trip and many people inserted themselves (including yourself) noting that travel is not an excuse and that if the team did allow for such an excuse they were soft.
Go to the beginning of this thread and essentially there are no comments telling MAT he is crazy for such thinking. Even though i think that travel plays a larger role in sports like football and basketball where speed and athleticism are most important and also most affected by long travel, the idea was that people are so more accommodating to the baseball programs that they are willing to overlook such "excuse making" by the coaches etc.. You chimed in noting as such which was a little ironic since you downplayed the entire travel effect anyhow.
Now, you are spinning that they were a veteran basketball team versus a soft baseball team and bus travel is now different from plane travel, all things you debunked earlier. That's spin.
