Marks threw around 20 pitches in the 8th. Robe said that in past games where Marks threw 40 +/- pitches in a game that his slider became less effective. They felt if he pitched in the 9th that he would not be available and or effective in the next game. With the 4 run lead they thought D Mo was the way to go in the 9th. Didn't work out as we know.

Not quoting Robe but that's the gist of what he said as best I remember.

The problem being to play the next game, the first game must be won.

This team was hurt badly by the injury bug and seemed to never get the lucky break needed at the right time.

Pretty much the only lucky breaks this year were ones that we gave to the opposition.

Luck, injury bug, bad breaks....hell, Coach just screwed the pooch. In his interview with Jay before the game he said that he would not change anything that he's done during the season as far as pitching rotation. Should have taken a clue from the rest of the coaches. "Whatever it takes to win" That is if you want to play the next day.Leger through the 8th, and Marks closing.

  10. Default Today on "The Au-Zone"

In our final interview of the season, Coach Robichaux looks at what the postseason has in store for the Ragin' Cajuns. The interview takes up all of the first hour of the show.
