So I await a fair discussion and keep all the personal BS out!!! So I relate the people I have talked to to arrive at my conclusion and wonder how you arrived at your's!!!

I've presented my arguments on this subject as the season progressed and in summation, and in massive detail. My arguments contained no attacks on anyone. If you're interested in my opinion on what transpired this past season in football, I invite you to go read my posts. I clearly, through objective evaluation of every single play of the season, arrive at irrefutable conclusions. I think in shades of gray, Boomer. It is not easy for me to operate my critical thinking mechanism and not see 40 sides to every story. I have absolutely no reservations as to the conclusions I arrived at during and in post. I included in my continuously developing appraisal every single person at my disposal, which were many Ragin Cajun faithful, some with substantial football backgrounds, others with nothing more than a passion for our program.

This is not an attack on you, Boomer... but you say that you've accumulated opinions from coaches and former football players. Myself and others were very much in agreement regarding the initial competition between Haack and Nixon (and the rest of the QBs) based on no evidence in preseason to know which QB was the best prepared for what Hud and staff planned for the year. But Hud and staff... as much as it was obvious they wanted Nixon to play... gave him more reset/restarts than any QB I've ever seen. And even they concluded he couldn't get it done, and kept plugging Haack back in... reluctantly. I haven't used former or current coaches to evaluate the Nixon/Haack story this season. I haven't found by your comments or our existing staff's decisions that either group knew what they were doing or talking about. And I'm firm on that.

I was of the belief, in preseason, that one thing was unacceptable in past football seasons regarding our offense: We were ill prepared to compete with the better teams we face early in the season. My evaluation of that concludes that as a mid major you cannot go "talent for talent" in standard offenses (including the spread and variations) and conquer or even compete with good programs of equal to better talent without taking greater risks. My risk addition to our offense is mostly in passing. Given the talent (and lack thereof) on this year's team... I think I correctly concluded that regardless of the QB we utilize, passing would be the most essential skill that QB possesses. It was progressively very clear to me that Haack was the better passer. It was progressively clear that our skills were in getting people the ball in space. If you want to argue that with me, I'll destroy anyone with my facts and recall of each and every play and play sequence leading to our 4-8 season.

The single fact that you keep presenting is the TD/INT data. That, I assume, has established your base opinion on which QB was the better passer. As an isolated piece of data, it tends to support your conclusion. Well, I took that data into consideration as well. And I coupled that dry data with other data. Some data I included was our first downs, yards per play, total yardage, and points per game. When I use that data, it points to neither QB being successful. To me, that impunes the value of the TD/INT data. It would be equivalent to using gas mileage on a vehicle that has 4 flat tires. It's pretty much erroneous and irrelevant to the argument. I also reviewed every single game footage I had access to. I watched what accounted for the INTs. I watched what accounted for the passing TDs. I added to that the massive number of addtional plays that either supported those endings... or failed to support a TD drive. I assigned the good and bad plays to the QB in question... and the role of that QB and every supporting cast member. As those addtional data points get added to the picture, and I understand very few people have the desire and/or capacity to make these kinds of evaluations... it very very clearly pushed my critical thinking mechanism... that allows for a massive open mind view... to conclude we were not utilizing our skilled players correctly... we were not utilizing the best QB (Haack)... and our coaching staff more than any particular player or group of players was at fault for that choice last year.

Boomer, I'd like to add... I do not "attack" you. It would be clear if I did... to both of us. I use what people post against them quite often. Just because that offends sometimes... really isn't my problem. I am open game just like you are. If you're a smart man, you can navigate around the wide variety of posting that goes on... without constantly appealing for some kind of special rules for posting. We have rules. Everything else is open. It's life. It isn't going to change for any particular person. Enjoy the forum.

----My point that I keep pointing out is that you don't have the important facts necessary to arrive at your conclusions----Do you know what defense that they were in and why we made the calls that we did---Do you know the check offs that were called to make a play's better chance to work----Do you know the personnel match ups that we were trying to exploit---Do you know the macro/micro tendencies that contributed to the choosing of a particular play----Do you realize the different defenses that were deployed and how the Z-read/play action passes were effected----How many plays had assignments broken----As I mentioned during the season, do you realize the pressure that playing the 2 QBs put on defensive game plans of opponents??? I would love to know what you do for a living just out of curiosity as I don't know if you understand all that goes into a football game----But I love your desire to come to decisions about games and that because you aren't on the staff and don't get the data that they make use of, that your and my opinions could be very flawed----BTW there has been many of surprises in my lifetime as to why a certain happening came about in the game/season!!!

All of that is moot if the end result is unsuccessful more times than successful.

    That's kinda the whole point.

What would our record have been had Haack started every game?

There is no way to give a concrete answer on this. Anyone would obviously be speculating. Does not take away the fact that stability at the helm, and using the personnel available to you correctly would have surely impacted the season in a much more postive way.

Obviously theoretical. I'm betting we'd have still been sitting home for bowl season.

You and a couple others have been the most critical of the staff. I assume you have a strong background in football. What were/are your coaching assignments.

You're saying we couldn't have won 6 games with better game management, a stable QB, and elimination of locker room issues? Btw, all were staff blunders this season.

For crying out loud, our HC blamed a building for a home loss.
