No idea if he is motivated by this season's results, but I would imagine he would have done this either way? Why not? He is just testing the waters. This season may weigh into what he finally decides, but I would have been surprised if he didn't at least take this initial step, no matter how this season would have turned out.
Let's be honest. He was never going to work his way into the first round of the draft. If he is given a grade of 3th round or better, that is where he'd have been if he has a great year next year. The NFL just doesn't value running backs. SO with that in mind why would he not bolt for the league? As a running back you have limited years in your body so why not maximize the years your body has to make money by leaving early.
He is projected as the 15th best RB in 2017 draft which was late 5th round in 2015
I agree....he tests the water no matter how his season went. Along with what Boomer posted, I think Eli has the potential to be a top, inside receiver in the NFL. He could play a little lighter if it increases quickness/speed, but this guy plays the ball in the air as well as I've seen in a long time, and has elite hands. I can't recall seeing him drop a pass while at UL. Playing RB is a possibility as a third down back, but I like his chances better at the slot position. With his hands and ability to play the ball in the air, he's great at catching punts, but we didn't see him return many?
I think he declares and gets drafted in rnd 6 or 7.
My heart is hoping he comes back though.
