Former UL running back Elijah McGuire has declined an invitation to play in Saturday's Senior Bowl, UL coach Mark Hudspeth said late Monday night.


Earlier Monday Hudspeth said McGuire had been selected and that he had "reported" for the prestigious college all-star game.

That's why he has an agent, his stock is up right now and he appears to have escaped healthy...which we don't know for sure.

I don't think anything has been reported officially. Nothing on the official web-site. I would expect he would be. He's on a few sites identified as a 5-6 round pick. DraftDaddy has him as a top 10 senior RB.

Resting up and training for a potential combine is what he should be doing now.

It means that he and his agent have a good idea that he will be invited to the combine and that playing in the Senior Bowl will not help and could possibly hurt. I take it as a good sign for Eli's NFL future.
