Starting to think more and more even if our hitting does come around they will struggle against postseason pitching...
Starting to see those Robe haters peeking out of their closet doors...
Nobody hates Robe....
Our hitters stink - plain & simple. Hitting coach may be hated? Not Robe...
"They" crowned us too early. These kids let that get to their heads and now playing in a palace, they think that they are owed something.
A few of these kids have the want and swagger to light a fire, but the majority just go through the motions. It's a brutal product to watch right now with the exception of Friday nights.
And here comes the snow flakes who if every discussion isn't sunshine and rainbows it means you hate the coach...we suck at the plate when it matters and I'd be willing to bet robe would say those words himself when not in front of a microphone. I'm pretty sure the team feels the same way. Pointing out obvious weaknesses is not being a hater...it's being realistic. Could we end up being a very good base s team? Sure but we are far from it right now. Very good baseball teams don't run themself out of innings, their bullpens don't collapse, and their hitters get the hit when you need it...we aren't good enough to overcome those deficiencies and make a run. Winning 35 games, the conference tourney to travel as a 3 seed is not and shouldn't be "the goal" anymore. It's nothing to be ashamed of for sure but certainly isn't the goal...and right now we are mentally soft which I think is our biggest problem and sometimes can be really hard to fix.
Same time last year we were 12 & 6. Same frustrations and comments. We hit poorly last year, evident by only 2 players hit above 300 and actually Clem was the only player that hit consistently and he missed a whole month with a wrist fracture. I looked back at total hits per player and Clem led the team in hits and missed 60 plus at bats. Think about that? Offense was poor! The point is pitching and defense, plus timely hitting will get you far. Just probably will never get you to the ship! When a team struggles collectively, you have to look beyond the players. Granted pitching is better in D1 baseball, but if you hit all the way up to to D1, I believe you continue hit. It is not physical, it is mental. I have my own opinion, which I will keep to myself as to why this team struggles offensively, but when the majority of the hitters are struggling then you have to look elsewhere to find the answer!
Our pitching hasn't been as dominant, our defense isn't as good and overall hitting isn't terrible...we are mentally weak...our pitching gives up the big hit when they can't, we commit a critical error when you can't, we can't hit when it matters, we are bone heads on the base paths...mental...we aren't bad just mentally soft when it counts...at least for now.
This team just needs to string 5,6,7 wins in a row to get on track. It's good at not dropping two in a row, now it needs to learn to string some W's together
Question for Brian or anyone with knowledge to RPI what hit does our RPI take tonight both win or lose after tonight?
You give the Houston pitcher "no credit' ? WOW. He's a bat dude. You go up there and hit a lefty with sink the last foot from the plate. And where did you play D1 baseball ?
