I suspect both Ark. State and La Tech are not participating due to concern they could not cover the small fee to host.

I haven't heard Techs reason for not playing, but Arkansas State's AD said the decision was made by the coach and players. Their goals were much higher and they didn't achieve them. I find that point of view refreshing.

It appears Arkansas State is not participating, at least in part, due to its head coach accepting the North Texas job.

I don't think that is why Ark. State is not playing in post season. They also went into a slump at the end of the year. I think Josh's reason is the most likely answer for their decision. I see Georgia State and Texas State are playing in the CIT. I know their coaches have high goals as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing the transfers as well as incoming freshman Cedric Russell, who looks to be the real deal. I was surprised that at one time he was considered by some to be the #5 combo guard in the country.

Once Russell decommitted from LSU and signed with the Cajuns his star ranking dropped from 4 to 3. I don't know how we will do in college as he is more like 6'1" than 6'3" which may impact him defensively. There is no denying he can shoot however. A 50% three point shooter can stroke it no matter what level he plays at in HS.

For 2016-2017, for thirty-nine games he averaged 22.4PPG, 6RPG, 4.5APG, and 2.6SPG. He also hit 53% of his three's, 52% of his two's, and 86% from the free throw line.

Jay Wright was a smallish 6'1" guard who garnered defensive player of the year.

Good point. We do not know how Russell will do defensively but Jay has shown size is not the only factor when it comes to that part of the game.
