We had put up 11 runs on 15 hits at that junction in the game, and izzie particularly had hit the ball hard in every at bat today.
Of course it's a terrible call when it doesn't work...had it worked you would be praising the coaches for the great call. That's why he makes the calls, sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. It's easy to second guess when you know the outcome. It's the way we play, he's bunted and squeezed his entire coaching career.

I assumed someone would use the old hindsight is 20/20 equivalent. Wrong. I actually even called that we would run the suicide before it happened, and if/when it happened it would be the wrong call whether it worked or not. Of course it's much more of a talking point because it did not work, but it was the absolute wrong call in the scenario it was applied. Two failed suicides nearly cost us a series we absolutely should have swept. I'm moving on and like I said, I love this coaching staff, and surely there are tons of things we can blame the loss on (piney's error, joe's error, poor pitching, missed strike 3 on ump, etc.) but the bunt call in that situation frustrated me.

Ball on the ground in fair territory = Sweep-----I was even thinking of doing it with 2 strikes!!!

all we need is a bunt in fair territory....does not have to be perfect...just put it down on the front porch.

And remember, Edwards struggled the last at bat against that pitcher.

Although I played all the major sports, I was going to play college baseball at Loyola until ruining my arm in football

I knew all the Loyola players and coaches very well and when they needed to get to Clark field, I went on the bus from campus to show them the way

Jesuit has always been one of the top baseball schools in the South and has won a bunch of state regional and American Legion World Titles

Suicide squeeze is Painless!!! Like the Mash song!!!

Izzy gets that bunt down 8 times out of 10. I don't hate the call only because it was Jam running and that meant it DID NOT even have to be a great bunt. Literally any fair ball bunt would've won the game. Hell, Jam was practically crossing the plate before Izzy even left the batters box. ____, maybe we should've just stole home, lol.

Then, after Tulane, we have LA Tech and Houston on consecutive Tuesdays. It would be nice to have Hogan for those.

Hoping Schmidt is good to go soon. A few innings against St. Peters would be perfect...

The Sun Belt has some catching up to do. Going into today, Sun Belt contribution to the Cajuns' OWP is not good. Whereas last year it was quite good.

I am very concerned about Saint Peter's effect on the Cajuns RPI. Hopefully they are much better than their 10-42 record last year. Else it is going to damage big time.

Not sure why we scheduled St. Peters. They haven't won more than 11 games going back to 2014. That's going to hurt. Rain outs would be nice!

Sun Belt currently 72-67. Better than a couple weeks ago but not as good as last year. Conference finished 148-125... So at this point (about half of all NC games played, conference should be about 12-13 games above 500 to match last year's pace.

Suicide was the right call. That pitcher came in the 8th and had sat down everyone until Kennon got that single. I think it had been 8 players in a row. So the pitcher was stingy.

I said the same thing yesterday right after the bunt went foul.

Yes, that was the play of the game. We lay that bunt down and it is over. You're right he might have stolen home without the attempted bunt.

The reality is we were just a few plays away from a sweep, and a few plays away from getting swept.
