Key in this game will once again be defending the three point shot. They shoot a lot of them and if they make a few they can be dangerous. Coach Marlin said we may be able to take these guys off the dribble when we are on offense in his radio show last Wednesday. Hopefully we have success there and in defending dribble penetration. We have struggled in that regard way too often this year and at times against opponents that we should not have had as much trouble doing so.

We limited them to only 18 three point attempts and they shot 38 in the previous game. I guess running them off the three point line is a reason why they got to the rim so easily in the middle part of the game. How did we turn it around and win four straight?. One is the schedule got easier. The last four opponents are not as good as the teams we played earlier nor as good as the two Texas teams we are about to play. Still, maybe we now have confidence which will allow us to play at a higher level against quality opponents. Another factor was the bench starting to contribute. Even if they don't score they help. Stalcup improved the defense tonight after Miller had trouble guarding inside, Evans had several assists, and Brown also helped protect the rim. Also, Bartley may be getting back on track after a mid season slump. He was a stud tonight. As far as the schedule goes, the next two games will be tougher than the last four even if they are at home. At this point the road-home thing is less of a factor than early. The team that plays the best wins and we may need to play better than we did tonight to have success in either game.
