I do not think Louis Cook would do any better, probably worse, than Todd Dodge at UNT. Dodge had much better credentials than Louis Cook has. But look where that is getting UNT.

By the way, WE HAVE NO OPENING! Some people on this board need to get a grip! Ricky Bustle has led the Cajuns to one of its most successful periods in our history, yet people are anxious to get rid of him. Some of you guys are starting to sound a lot like the guys 50 miles to the east. Looking for a replacement coach when we do not have an opening. Jesus, we just had one of our better recruiting classes and some people are already talking about firing Bustle WOW! _
I am quite aware that we don't have an opening, and I happen to not be a Bustle Basher. I did not mention that we should fire him.But if we have a 3-9 season, you can bet your a## that he will be gone. I'm simply stating the fact that I heard Cook was being looked at as a possible future coach. Given our monetary situation it would not be unfathomable. I think you need to get a grip buddy!

Our monetary situation is not as dire as you think it is. As far as me getting a grip, trust me I am more in tune with the actual overall athletic situation than you may think. Louis Cook will get his name thrown into any conversation when it comes to UL football because people who have no clue about college football will put his name out there.

I have a big problem with some peoples view on this board that we find ourselves talking about firing a coach who is not even in season and has performed admirably given the circumstances he walked into. I have called for Bustle's head before too so I am guilty of some of this. But our current situation does not call for any coaching changes other than men's and woman's basketball.

If you want to talk about basketball I feel that is fair game. But to start silly internet rumors about our current football staff who is in no danger of being fired or retained for another 8-10 months is ridiculous. If you like that sort of thing go read tiggerdropings.

I'm thinking Bustle will have a break out year in 2010.

MTSU needs a new OC and FAU will have an unproven QB . . .

Next year he will earn the extension he was given this year.

    That is my prediction

Again, I am not a Bustle hater. I think he does a good job with what he has. And if you'll read my original post, you'll see that I was asking a question, not starting a silly rumor.

Here's to hoping your feeling is accurate.

MTSU will be pretty good but they did lose some significant players off last year's team.

Troy lost all their significant starters from defense but their offense will likely be the best in the belt once again.

FAU had a horrible recruiting year and they lost ALL of their significant playmakers other than Alfred Morris

ASU will be O.K. but they will have to find a way to replace all the starters on D that they lost.

FIU? I've been hearing they were supposed to turn it around for years.

I think the point is made that this league could be open next year. I don't know if Troy will have that edge going into the season that they've owned the past few years and FAU is a shell of itself. This team can and should do some nice things in conference. I was pretty critical of those who were putting the bowl or bust expectations on last years team but 2010 is a different story and to expect 6 wins minimum in conference is not asking too much and should be a measuring stick for this team and coaching staff.

Troy will still be potent on defense. They have solid replacements for the d-linemen they lost, former LSU 4-star recruit Sidell Corley is one of them. I hate to say it but those guys reload quick.

MT this past season is proof that you don't have to win the conference to go to a bowl game and get major recognition for the win. I'm not too worried about Troy. We need to beat everyone else, get our 7-8 wins and go to a bowl. Winning is cyclical anyway, just ask N. Texas. Our time is coming.

You assume they have solid replacements. Sure, Corley is there but they lost Brandon Lang, Boris Lee, Bear Woods plus their other DE and those are guys who started for 4 years. Their secondary was thought to have guys waiting in the wings last year and they struggled mightily against the pass. While they may have some decent fill ins, I doubt they have a Lee, Woods and Lang in the waiting.

I don't get why people are so certain that Cook would elevate out football team to the next level. High school success does not equate to college success.

They also have to replace the best QB in the Belt in Levi Brown.
