Honestly, going into the Tech game, I thought I picked up some unexpected uncertainty and lack of confidence of Robe in his team... I chose to blow it off... That was when he went on the rant about how mid-weeks shouldn't count in the RPI (which doesn't make any sense). Kind of like he saw what was coming... A confident coach wants the challenge - anytime. In 2014, he never downplayed midweek games. Back then, it was "all games are weekend games." Because they all count the same in the RPI which determines at-larges and hosting... Where is that mindset?

I did not interpret his comments that way. I took them as ... midweek games are a good opportunity to develop players ... and that he would like the opportunity to use some of those games as such, without paying the RPI penalty that can come with that development.

Which he's said exactly that in past conversations. You no longer have redshirts that aren't on your 35 man roster, so in most cases those guys (unless injured) you're forced to play. He would like the opportunity to play some of those freshmen and get them experience without the RPI penalty losing midweek games entail.

I'm wondering how the second game goes last night if we win the first? You have three hits in the first AB in first opportunity and two hits in the second and can't get the guy in. Then you throw out a runner at second in the bottom of the innning but fall behind 3-1 and then 3-2 and hang a breaker that leaves the yard. Robe said in the post game interview that the hitter was the one guy with HR power you worried about in the situation and the pitch was supposed to be a slider that you bury (ball low or in the dirt) and if he swings you're done and if not he's on first. The one thing you can't do is hang it, and Wyatt did just that after throwing great for the whole appearance.

It was a microcosm of the season thus far. We had 3 opportunities to win the game, and just couldn't get it done. I feel badly for Brenn, because he was robbed of a game winner. But the inning prior, the Monica sac bunt (not his fault) should have been a HBP. As the inning pogressed; it would have been bases loaded, no outs. And that's just that inning.

Fast forward an inning, 1st and 2nd no outs, Joe Ks and then the DP. Bottom of the inning, 2 out HR. It's just a weird thing with this team. We're usually right there... and then just plss it away..

And thinking back further in that game... We had them 4-2 late... D-Mo on... and the rains came... Ump trying to finish it... D-Mo hands wet couldn't grip...

Wasn't it the first game when we also had one that should have been HBP but instead it went off the knob of the bat?

Just repeating Robe's comments after the game. He basically wanted the pitch in the dirt. I don't think the hitter hit it off of the dirt.
