All we heard all offseason was how "deep" our pitching staff/bull pen was this year. Last night showed me that the confidence isn't exactly there yet when you're throwing the schit out of DMo in game 3 of the season.

He struck out 6 of 8 faced. But he went long because Robe has complete faith in him and the end was close finally having a 2 run lead. Being early in the season and having pitched they day before and going long and the rain, the move probably should've been made after that 2nd walk. It's not a lack of faith in other guys though, it's the total sure thing faith in D-Mo that made it harder to make the move. If Coach weighed all those factors again, stepping back, he may feel differently than he did last night even without knowing the results
That's a bit of a stretch. Consider the fact that this was the third game of the weekend and that we also play Nichols tonight. I don't think it has anything to do with not trusting others in the pen as much as leaving the guy in you have the utmost confidence in. We don't need to question Robe and his pitching decisions. We can question Talbot on the hitters plenty though.
Man, I'm not Robe. But I'm scratching my head about leaving DMo in so long, then running Colton out there for the 2nd day in a row if we're so deep.
We better hit the crap out of the ball tonight or I'm going to be ____ed.
Bigly offense will be a necessity tonight.
[QUOTE=cajun1300;982626]4 games in 4 days
We have the same amount of games regardless. We would've played 4 games in 5 days w/out the rain out Fri night. He was left in too long. We have tons of arms. They weren't used. Not questioning the staff...they know what they are doing. I'm questioning my belief in that we have tons of depth on the back end. The confidence factor was not there in game 3 to get the job done hence DMo throwing a lot. That's it...
So you don't feel DMo was left in too long? How many articles were written about the depth on the bump? This team has a college world series staff. I think he was misused and that's not just my opinion, but the opinion of a lot of people. I know we put DMo in during a crucial situation to close the door on a potentially damaging inning, but like I said, he was left in too long - especially this early in the season. My only thought was for confidence building. We aren't hitting for schit, so if we could at least escape with a win and improve to 2-1 we could limp this thing along until a person brings a bat to the game.
