Lafayette Police walked the streets to connect with residents in the Truman neighborhood._

Officers were partnered with_members of a civilian community relations committee.

Anthony Lewis, longtime Truman resident, said, "Living in this neighborhood, as a young man, we always looked at police, growing up, as sort of the enemy. But when you grow up and mature, you realize they're really an asset to the community - to protect and serve us."
