I like this game. Grambling, southern and McNeese should be the only 1AAs we play. They bring fans which makes the game exciting. And yes, I think the 2017 schedule is horrible.
Are you related to Boomer? NO FCS.
2017 & 2018 schedules are a joke. Farmer must've known he was gone to schedule these games.
It's nothing against SU or GSU, I enjoy their band's performances, but NO FCS!
Quit wanting the Southland back people, move on, aspire to be more.
There will be an FCS every year for quite some time. I will enjoy watching Grambling; they have a much better football tradition than we do.
Let's look at the positive of playing Grambling. No 'American Sports Network' means we won't have the game on tv, and it won't be at eleven in the morning.
Yesterday on ESPN1420 they actually commented how poor the crowd was for Boise. Excuse me but start with an eleven am kickoff, pour in an awful 2015 record of 4/8, add a very powerful Boise and you get the perfect receipt for a poor opening day crowd.
I get it, from all the football crazy lovers, but an enormous number of fans are older, and a lot are students who have not had a history of supporting the football program.
I have no big problem, actually no problem with Grambling. Still why are we numbed to bad out of conference games along with being in a conference that there are only about four teams the fans identify with? Right now the only teams our fan base get excited about are Ark St, Monroe (unfortunately), and maybe Troy. Of course we are beginning to get a little excited about App State, and Georgia Southern because they came in and blew the door off the SBC. Really are you excited to see TxSt, USA, GaSt, Coastal,
i dont mind southern, mcneese or grambling only from a financial standpoint. it is a much smaller check to write to pay them to come here than say someone like ohio or eastern michigan. also, we stand to profit more from more people being in the stands, whether its traveling fans, or even if its old time fans that will only come see them- there money is still green. ohio and emu are not moving the needle for anyone. as long as it is common to schedule fcs games for everyone in the fbs, including the P5, i dont have a problem with us doing it. if there is a trend to move away from scheduling fcs, then i agree we move away from it too.
we wont be blazing some new trail by not scheduling fcs games to replace them with akron or buffalo, so why spend more money to leave additional money on the table?
