Said a lot of soft at bats and not competing. Guys fall behind in counts so often right now. Said there are some leaders but still need more to step up soon or they're gonna have to do it as coaches.

He sounded like he really liked the idea of no walk up music until they get it going.

Schmidt a couple weeks away from playing as mentioned. He's done some tossing with no pain, still ramping up. Going to be on a mound in a bullpen soon.

Jevin is starting tonight but not more than 3 innings. Wyatt still fresh since he only pitched one. D-Mo will pitch tonight

Say what you want about talent or coaches but when it comes to poor performance at the plate this is due to a small gray area between their ears. Unfortunately it is contagious......
The problem is that their is no simple cure and ultimately it is the factor that turns great baseball teams into good baseball teams and vis versa. That is why I am always a little hesitant to discuss "talent" and expectations early in the season.

We have coaches and players capable of making a CWS appearance but so do a lot of other teams. The questions is do we have the mental makeup to be one of the haves instead of have nots. Stay tuned.

Ok Bil...is there a plan to give Monica a night off during these 5 game weeks to keep his legs under him as it heats up? Has the grind of being behind the plate for every pitch thus far taken a little offensive production out of him?

To be fair, he was 0-8 with 5K on Sat/Sun combined. Robe wanted to get Aguilar some innings but it just hasnt come yet with postponed games, situations, etc.

Robe has already determined that he'll forgo a good bat for a better defensive glove.

Shortstop and catcher are two critical positions. Tonight we're playing a team that puts pressure on the pitcher when they get on base. Wonder if he gives Handsome a break in one of the games. I highly doubt the first game ends in less than three innings.
