North and central Louisiana could get two to four inches of snow Thursday night and Friday morning, with snow possible as far south as Slidell and Baton Rouge, according to the National Weather Service.
They say south Louisiana above Interstate 10 is likely to get a mix of rain, sleet and snow. Meteorologists say 1973 was the last time south Louisiana got two measurable snowfalls in one winter.
State climatologist Barry Keims says the last time south Louisiana got snow two winters running was in the winters starting in 1948 and 1949.
