Not to mention, this was when Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and North Texas were in the Belt so add those to the list.

Marlin's attempt to schedule quality competition cant even sniff that. Hes satisfied with his 20 awful wins and a pay-to-play participation trophy tournament at the end of the year....oh, and Farmer giving him unearned extensions.
You're last sentence is not true. We all may not like it, but UL was contractually obligated to extend his contract. He deferred the extension to help the university (which helped him as well).

It's arguable His contract was bad, but he earned an extension (according to the contract).

Youre right, kinda hard to not give an extension after making the NCAA tourney.

I believe Marlin had a built in contract extension / raise benchmark for winning the division in his original contract. Marlin's team won a share of the division his first season. It's my recollection he allowed the university to delay his pay raise so that the Athletic department could use that money to retain Coach HUD. Now the it's the second contract extension, which runs thru 2020, that should bother most folks. I don't think many supporters or non supporters think that extension and raise was warranted.

I did not realize contract went through 2020. Still, that would mean only a two year buyout after next year. A poor season then and the new AD may consider moving on. Of course it depends how you define the season being "poor". A barely winning season won't satisfy most of the people here but I don't know what the administration will think about that. It will definitely be below expectations with the talent coming in. As far as this year goes, it was expected to be a rebuilding year so results are not a total surprise. Some of us did became overly optimistic with the non conference success against competition weaker than what our league has this year.

Football will also play a factor. If we are buying out HUD's contract next year it would be unlikely we would also buy out Marlin. Like it or not I think Marlin is here for a couple of years.

Are you informally announcing Hud is out after this year?

My initial encouragement wasn't based only on the victories against weaker opponents, but being competitive with Georgia and Minnesota. Plus Pepperdine and JMU continued downward spiral showed how few decent victories Marlin had.

Right now with season tickets solid, and likely again next year Marlin in well on the way to a mediocre decade.

No, I Just wanted to put it out there to get the conversation started. Once I realized just about everyone on RP had a loose lipped informant within the athletic department, I knew I had to up my game with regards to breaking rumors. Late last week I hastily brokered an alliance with a few other informed people on this site. This allows us to have the most up to date rumors emanating from Reinhardt Drive. I'm not going to lie, it has been quite an undertaking. Our main focus will be breaking the rumors first. Facts will be adjusted as we find out what is going on. Anyone questioning the validity of our story will be met with a profanity laced rebuke. In the unlikely event that some good news is revealed, we will let Boomer break the story.

With Farmer put out to pasture we will first set our sights on generating HUD rumors/news. Once we take him down we will move on to Marlin. After that it will be either the soccer or volleyball coach. By then we will probably hate the new AD so we can start the process all over.

Are you suggesting we're bad people for wanting winners in soccer and volleyball? I'd hope we're ridding ourselves of bad and mediocre coaches or indeed it'll be time to ask why is the AD accepting that.

No, I'm suggesting that the RP army has bigger fish (get it?) to fry. Take heart, Rome wasn't built in a day.

Congratulations! And welcome aboard. You're seriously going to enjoy being right... like your newly allianced RP colleagues. As you'll come to see, it certainly isn't satisfying to point out that your own kingdom has flaws... but you will be satisfied that the dog catcher and the street sweeper are being held accountable. But can take comfort in your predictions (rumors) having been accurate... well after the "kingdom has flaws" deniers are silenced and the facts surface to prove it.

    Welcome aboard.

Thanks, its been quite a journey. I never want to have that empty feeling inside like the day Scott Farmer was reassigned. Sure, I had made a disparaging remark about him from time to time. I even called him Farmer Brown once. But I knew I had nothing to do with his firing. Seeing the euphoria in RP'ers knowing they had done their part in getting him canned was cathartic. I knew I wanted to be a part of someone at UL getting fired, but how? I think I have now taken the necessary steps to being part of this lovable lynch mob. And I will not lie, being right all the time has a nice ring to it!

BTW, this may be the worst thread hijack ever....sorry!!
