Thread: Travis Smothers getting attention on own merit

  1. Default Travis Smothers seeks attention on own merit

LOUISIANA La. — Less than a month ago, Travis Smothers didn’t know what direction life was taking him. He only knew he wanted to play football somewhere.

About that same time, UL assistant and running backs coach Brian Jenkins ran into an old acquaintance, now-Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn, at a football camp.

“He told me his little brother was ready to play football somewhere,” Jenkins said, “and I told him that if he was really serious about it, to tell him to get in touch with me.”

Smothers jumped at the chance. Now, one week into his senior-college career, he’s anxious to show what he can do.
