Vermilion Parish teachers are among the most qualified in the state.
Assistant Superintendent Charlotte Waguespack delivered the good news to the School Board at a recent meeting.
Waguespack said 98.9 percent of classes are being taught by highly qualified teachers this year.
The parish has climbed in percentage points the last three years.
“Bottom line, we only have 26 classes that are not being taught by highly qualified teachers,” she said. “That is not 26 teachers, that is 26 classes. That is not a whole lot if you look at the whole picture.”
