His other options would only be FCS because of his amount of eligibility left and lack of experience. It would not be because he was a scrub recruit, because he wasn't. Also, if he had ANY kind of player development while he was here, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

Jordan Davis will be the Louisiana starting QB this year AND next year, regardless of who is the head coach.

[QUOTE=Hark Mudspeth;986756]Blaine Gautier couldn't learn the playbook either, showed flashes but nothing special...until he was actually given a chance to play. Judging JD's ability moving forward based off his limited playing time so far is a little premature. Our head coach has ____'d with that kids head and confidence more than anything, the fact he has stuck around through it

If this kid turns out, and I hope more so for the kids sake than anything that he does, it will be more about his mental toughness than anything. He's had adversity for two years, and to be able to push thru all the crap he's had in front of him will be a testament to this kids make up. I believed this two years ago, that with some development this kid could be special. Boy just think if he could of learned and developed last season how much better we would be this year.

Oh, I forgot, qb sack. We run that one a lot.
Don't forget our specialty on 3rd and short.....false start.

    Hud has no QB
    Hud is toast!

I think all bets are off right now until we see how the new OC will handle the offense and play calling. I hope he knows that the TE is an eligible pass receiving position and that it is not illegal to throw the ball in the middle of the field!

I agree Duggie...I think Hud brought in this new OC he has ties with because he knows his seat is red hot and he will leave the offense to the new OC he trusts.

That's a big leap of faith to think that a man who has burned so many bridges to protect his own ego...will finally get some humility and let his coaches do their jobs. I don't think he knows his seat is red hot yet. Because you can look at the hire as another yes man, coming in to run Hud's "high powered" offense. In a perfect world, Hud would see the errors of his ways. But this is not a perfect world...it isn't even halfway decent anymore. Now if we come to the season and this OC is let loose to run wild all over the belt...I'll come back and give you your props. But...I gotta see it.

If Dion Ray is not going to be QB they need to move him somewhere else. He is way to talented to be on the bench and only come off for a couple a plays a game.

To judge Davis simply off his playing time so far is crazy...good or bad.
He can only be judge on what we have seen. Same for every player in every sport at every level. I know 1 thing. Davis looked the worst in last years Spring game out of all the QBs that played.

Honestly, I hope he proves me and all of us wrong. I hope he gets the starting job and lights up the world.

Or you could just not judge based on not enough information. We were "hiding" our new super spread offense in the spring...AGAIN I'm not saying he is the answer but I don't think anyone has seen enough to say he isn't either. A spring game with a vanilla offense against a defense that knows what you are running isn't always the best indicator either. Lets see what Will Hall can do with him if HUD lets him.

Had a chance to stop by practice on the way to softball game. Davis looks like no other quarterback I have seen at UL (looks). Arceneaux and Nunez have good size also. Ray looks like a true running back. We have great size at receiver and TE. Now I don't know how that will equate to on the field but just looking at the team I liked what I saw.

Agreed, he looked the part so far in practice just gotta wait till the season to see if he truly improves. WR looked good too they got some freshman who seems like he's 7 feet tall. I was at practice today a got a chance to speak to coach. Was told some things will be the same but they will also change some things up. Possibly meaning they will take snaps under center.
