T...can you explain the difference between a walk on and a preferred walk on? Isn't this the 2nd PWO for UL this recruiting class?

All preferred walk-on means the athlete will be given a guaranteed opportunity at a certain position in the fall. A walk-on isn't guaranteed a opportunity or look at any position. Preferred size are usually given the opportunity to earn a scholarship like Myles and a few others that past two seasons.

100M times are misleading. I was faster than quite a few very highly rated recruits back in the day in 100M. But if it were a 55M race they would win by a step and a half.

The short shuttle and 40 is a better judge of football speed.

I was just the opposite of you ... and my day was back when the M was a Y! I remember one race I was against a guy with the second fastest time in the 100 in the state; I was beating him by several feet at the 50 ... and lost by at least 5 yards!

But I owned him in the 40.

Is that like a partial scholarship deal...I know WO pay for the school, what about PWO?

71 had a couple of partial scholarship offers coming out of high school, but he wanted to concentrate on school...and girls.

No scholarship to start, but you may earn one for your second year. Nothing is guaranteed, and the student pays his own way.

Basically a preferred is guaranteed a non-scholarship roster spot and a regular walk on has to tryout for the team.

Jerry Rice laughed at 40 times as he ran away from DBs in the 4th quarter of games.
