I agree, but the fact remains that everyone in the nation, including possible recruits, watched La Tech beat #25 Navy in its bowl game. Perception is reality my friend.

I couldn't agree more! It is absolutely inexcusable. With everything we have that they don't, it shouldn't even be a debate.

If we take money out the equation, then Hud should be fired, without doubt. We are saddled with watching this program go down another notch next year, it's sad. It is inexcusable, to get in this position and not be able to do anything about it. In the future, when considering a coaches salary, we must also include having on hand the money to be able to fire him so we don't get into this predicament again.

The thing about the triple option is that it's hard to stop. You may think that you can compete because you do well against the run but that's deceptive. Techs defense is actually great against the run. It's teams that pass on us that kill us. I don't think you guys would have done any better against Navy. The triple option is practically impossible to practice against because no one ever sees it. The only way to beat them is to out score them. Tech had the offense to do that. UL did not this year.

I agree with everything you stated here.

There were two times when Techs defense was so busy shifting left and right that Navy sent a guy right up the middle untouched. That would normally have been a play Tech would have stopped but they were so thrown off doing other things.

You are correct that he is correct. The triple option is a challenge even to a good run stop defense. Who knows what would happen in a given matchup, but we would have had a hard time trading scoring blows. Our offense wasn't up to the challenge this year.

I'll say it again... Hud needs to find the second coming of Brian Mitchell. He needs a superstar athletic QB that plays like a king. In reality, he needs to get the smartest QB with a great arm and instinct for passing... but that just isn't Hud.

Hud doesn't understand that he's losing his support. He can get it back. But he needs to humble himself and admit (at least to himself) what his strengths are... and what his weaknesses are. He just doesn't strike me as the kind of learning machine that sees his flaws. And it NEVER begins with bad mouthing your audience. If the audience boos you... you suck. The audience does not suck. You do. There aren't enough soft fans to coddle you... even with the assistance of a radio jockey. Internalize the criticism and either step down or step up.

Our fourth string QB ran the practice squad the past three weeks because he ran the triple option in High School. Otherwise we would have been really screwed.

Congratulations on the nice win. It pains me to say it but I got to give credit when it's due. You guys have an outstanding program.

And we have absolutely no excuse whatsoever not to dominate their football program.

Yes, this is so true. What is really sickening is that whatever success they have is not supported by their fan base. That is the opposite of our situation. We have a fan base, and potentially a much larger one, that is just dying to support our programs, yet we are just barely treading water in FB, the most important program.
But as many have noted recently, with the new AD coming and the total support of Doc S, we are really on our way. Great things are ahead for us.
