Jay Wright scored his 800th point tonight. He very well could be the next member of the 1,000 point club in just 3 seasons.

B defensively
C+ offensively
A+ in transition
C on the boards
And still destroyed a WCC team. I think this team has a very high ceiling. Because they are young, we may only see them put together a few complete games. But it feels like they are one of those groups that find ways to win games.
Wright seems to have finally got it. He's not out of control anymore and he's an energizer bunny. I don't think he ever gets tired. He's lethal in transition and his floaters/tear drops are on the plus side.
Miller has some work to do. His shot is extremely soft for a big man. He can straight up stroke from 20'+. Once he learns how to utilize his body and make contact down low instead of avoiding shot blocks and doing acrobatic shots, he'll be a great one.
Washington is better than I ever thought he'd be. He's dynamic in every aspect of the game with the exception of free throws. Hope teams don't start to "Hack-a-Bryce" down the stretch.
The freshman are clutch....can shoot, jump, rebound. Once the transfers are added next year, this team might be one to write another book about. I'm not crowing them because I don't know how they'll gel, but when your head coach says that his "scout team is better than most D1 teams" you gotta believe something special is taking place.
Nice win boys
I was impressed with Jay Wright. He's matured. At UNO, I could tell he was dying to fire 3s every time he handled the ball. And it made sense to pull UNO out to defend. But against Pepperdine, he was much more selective. And his hustle on defense is outstanding. Much appreciated Mr. Wright. I like this team. The new blood is making for really nice floor chemistry.
The FG percentage is misleading (which is why I gave an A+ in transition). In the half court set, we are still finding ourselves. We have a tendency to over pass at times, which makes for several clumsy possessions. We were sloppy at times. Careless turnovers.
By no means am I complaining. This is part of young team growing pains. I'm thrilled that we can play so/so and win games big (hit our average again last night of 90 ppg).
I'm not totally on board with you Jay Wright thoughts. I still feel he forces drives at times on offense leading to bad shots or passes. I found last year that he seemed to want his shot first too much for a point guard, and to his credit that's less common this year but still dribbles too much on occasion. Other players seem much more willing to move and pass creating much easier shots. I've seen more great passes, both interior and exterior, in the first 12 games this year than all of last year combined. I really like that last night he seemed to be willing to pull up and shoot 10-15 foot open jump shots rather than trying to force himself to the goal against bigger players. I with Stove would do more of that as well as I think he's a much better shooter from that range than the three point line.
He still has a tendency on defense to lose his man off the dribble giving up layups too often, but that may be a function of trying to pressure well away from the basket and trying to play passing lanes. He has come up with a number of steals and his hustle on defense is good.
The thing about Jay is, he's a two guard. He's an isolation first, scorer type player. He stops the ball too much sometimes, but that is his instinct. I think a lot of the improvement this year is simply him being a better fit on a team that shares the ball. Last year, we had too many ball centric players. This year, Jay is probably our only ball centric player (Justin every now and then).
Still, I'll take the good with the bad. We need a high energy guy to attack at all times. I think it will pay off in league play.
