"Down in front!"
Why didn't most of you just stay home?
Here's the next question. Like I said, I didn't see the crowd. Was it a legit 4,491, or was the bottom level half full and that was just the reported number? Because when I made the post, I was going off of "bottom level half full," which says 2,500 or so people, which is a bad number.
Tic Price does refuse to schedule us. He remembers his time @ McNeese when cajun students gave his wife a hard time about an affair he had. Many of the SLC coaches schedule several non D1 games in pre conference. They know that is one of the only way they can get non conference home games. Of course if they would put their egos aside they could get a few SBC teams to play home and home. However, I believe the two SBC teams in Texas don't want to play schools like Lamar home and home. They only want those games at home. We are playing three SLC schools in home and home setups this year however. We do this without RPI in mind. We do it simply because of travel costs. The UNO game could be a tough contest next week however as they are much improved.
Coach Marlin and Jay both complimented the folks that were there tonight. They were really into the game and gave the guys a much needed boost. There were only 500 more for the Nichols game and that was due to students. I agree that is not at the level we hoped for. However I am not surprised as college basketball is just not that big a deal in the Deep South. That is especially true for all mid majors in the area, not just here. In fact, 4400 is probably one of the best mid major crowds in the south tonight.
