Awesome news about the crowd!
The fact that we represented just as much as USM after the year we had and having been to this game so many times means more than most realize.
From my perspective in the dome, we outnumbered USM. If not, we were even. But besides our side being just as red and their side was black and gold... if not more... we had a lot of red sprinkled all over the rest of the dome... including mixed around the USM side. The Cajun fans showed up pretty well IMO.
I think we got a big call right before half when they tried to spike the ball with 1 second left so they could attempt a field goal, but the refs overturned it and called halftime.
What was crazy about that play was the sequence of events:
1) Southern Miss spikes the ball with one second left
2) Southern Miss field goal unit come on the field
3) Hud calls a timeout
4) Southern Miss field goal unit come back on the field
5) Hud calls a second timeout
6) the refs now say they reviewed the play, no time is left on the clock and the Cajuns will not be charged the second time out
Why was the game clock not reviewed during the first timeout?
What if we would have never called the second timeout?
Anyone else found that sequence of events strange?
I found several series of events strange during this bowl game..........I don't think we lost because of the Refs, but the integrity of the game was lost because of the Refs........I recall three bad calls that the Refs did not make the right call after replays........
The strangest thing of all in the referring is they had a women ref. That's where all the drama came from.
