Everyone keeps talking about how bad the economy is here, but all I see every day are completely full restaurants and shopping centers every night. Now, don't get me wrong, I know many people have lost jobs and had home affected by recent flooding. These people get a pass. The rest of Acadiana doesn't. In my mind there is absolutely no reason not to have 30k fans in the dome on Saturday.
For those of us old enough to remember the 80's crash, this is far from over. For starters, even if oil suddenly became profitable to drill for again, tons upon tons of equipment has been shipped out for use elsewhere in the world. One banker put it this way...this is like a baseball game, and we are just around the third inning.
Prepare to be sadly disappointed on Sat night in the dome then. I'm thinking at best we have 20K in red on Sat, prob more like 15K though is what I am hoping for.
The thing I am worried about is in the past bowl games, the team saw and knew how much support they had with them. UL fans in red TOTALLY outnumbered the opponents fans, and it wasn't even close. I wonder if they notice the difference and come out a little flat on the field?
Are we on the visitors side again this year? USM should have been in that spot if so.
