Buckley is incapable of doing any type of real reporting on the team, recruits, etc.

He likes to stir the pot, write about Farmer's "forced resignation," just to sell copy and distract from the fact that he's really not a great beat writer and defended by Kevin Foote as being the hardest working guy out there.

Obviously not a big fan of either.

I saw the paper today. Most articles use UL. Just more fake panic and hysteria that dominates this site lately.

Isn't Buckley the one who also ran the stories seemingly pitting Robe and Coach Mike against each other on how they dealt with each of their players getting a DUI?

My understanding is some of the DA editorial pages are edited from their Monroe paper. Explains part of the problem. Gannett still buying newspapers around the country and cutting existing papers to the bone. A property like the DA still extremely profitable. I always felt a newspaper should be a reflection of the community it serves. Gannett not the best corporate citizen for Acadiana as it's not investing in local product and it shows. Even website is weak.

Panic? Hysteria? I seriously doubt it. Using "UL" isn't the only issue with the DA. But Josh informed us long ago that the locals don't choose the titles of the articles. Regardless, that paper needs a massive amount of local counseling.

There was a story there. I found it interesting. Buckley is not on the university payroll; he is supposed to write interesting stories, and if they shine a negative light on UL (and here, it is debatable because it was discipline versus forgiveness), then so be it. As long as it is true and not false, and its interesting, its a story.
